Olivier De Schutter, UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights sent a new letter to the Indonesian government about the ongoing USD 3bn "New Bali" coastal project in the Mandalika region of Lombok island. He expressed concerns that not all displaced families have been compensated and that the local Sasak Indigenous communities, contrary to government claims that they wholeheartedly support the project, had not given their free, prior consent.
