The Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) has submitted an Open Letter to the Government of Tanzania and a private corporation urging them to stop 'the eviction' of over 70,000 Maasai indigenous pastoralists from the famous Ngorongoro National Park and their recognized customary land in Loliondo area. The NGO alleges that the corporation is owned by a foreign royal family who wishes to convert the Maasai land in Loliondo area to a wildlife hunting ground. Ironically in the Ngorongoro National Park area, the pastoralists face the threat of eviction for the exact opposite reason, to 'protect' wildlife.
