Russia: Foreign and unlicensed tour guides now banned from guiding

On March 23, 2021 the State Duma adopted a bill on tour guides and translators on tourist routes obliging them to undergo compulsory certification and registration with the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism. Foreign citizens will no longer be able to work as guides in Russia. Allegedly, Chinese tour groups in particular were using their own guides. The Federation of Associations of Russian Guides (FARG) has welcomed the decision.
